DeFi Alliance Welcomes Four Team Members

October 5, 2021

A few weeks ago we announced the launch of our new Gaming Accelerator. As explained in our blog post, our move into gaming strengthens our mission of growing global adoption and allows us to expand our focus to becoming a community first Web 3 accelerator.

But we aren't stopping there!

Today, we're excited to announce the addition of several incredible individuals to our teamShah, Roberto, Jocelyn, and Carter. Not only do these intrepid terraformers make our team stronger but more importantly, their talent and experience will help the many startups that we accelerate.

Shah Hafizi joins as Partner and General Counsel. Shah is inarguably one of the most talented lawyers in the industry. As former Chief Compliance Officer at BlackRock and Genesis Group, Senior Counsel at UBS, D.E. Shaw, and the SEC, Shah brings more than 17 years of professional experience guiding business on financial market practices, bringing extensive experience in quant trading, equities, credit, fixed income, swaps, and complex commercial negotiations and regulatory engagements. He's advised dozens of DeFi startups and founders on critical matters including entity structuring, token offering and distribution, and regulatory compliance. He will bring this expertise to DeFi Alliance, creating a scalable platform to accelerate Web 3 startups' regulatory compliance along with founders that increasingly need to thing of the product and community implications of financial regulations.

Roberto Riccio joins as Head of Product. Roberto was a Senior Product Manager at Facebook, where he built WhatsApp ads and grew it to 1 million monthly advertisers. Previously Roberto was CEO and co-founder at Glio, the 1st Y Combinator-backed company from Latin America, and MaisEV, the most visited poker website in Brazil. Roberto will work hands-on with early stage founders through a new program coming soon.

Jocelyn Robancho joins as Head of Operations. Jocelyn is a skilled operator, having run People Ops at Lambda School where she built out the People function and scaled the company from 18 to 175 full-time employees. A former Batch Director at Y Combinator and BizOps Director at Hack Reactor, she further brings deep experience in accelerator operations and will help us execute on of our core values of building to scale.

Carter McAlister joins as Engineering Lead. Carter is an experienced full stack engineer who served as Technical Lead at Rocket Travel and web developer at TTI. He has experience in traditional web development and Solidity, and previously built https://yieldfarmingtools.com/.

We're super excited to have these exceptional human beings joining the DeFi Alliance family!
